“IN MY ROOM”

To me, there is a level of intimacy in the ways college students arrange their dorm rooms. For many, this is the first time they have authority over their own space and how they interact with that space is telling. Posters, paintings, photographs, letters, and LED fairy-lights plaster the walls of a majority of Colby dorms. “In My Room” is a collection of portraits I shot of Colby students in their respective dorm rooms. I wanted to explore what my peers did to make their temporary homes feel more comfortable. My focus was centered on how we as students live within Colby College and how that translates physically. Special thanks to all of my subjects, Gary Green and my Photo II class for all of their help with this project!
